Imad Makhzoumi

Imad Makhzoumi is currently a board member on the Board of Future Pipe Industries Group and in 2018 was appointed as Group Chief Strategy Officer to assist in developing, communicating, executing and sustaining Future Group strategies and business development drives. He played an integral role in the development of the engineering Group ENOIA, assuming the role of Chairman and CEO in 2016. Imad completed his undergraduate studies in Civil Engineering and Water Resource Management at the University of Southern California, in the United States and holds a diploma in Business from McGill University in Canada.

Hoda Abou Jamra

Hoda Abou-Jamra has forged a successful investment career in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, driven by her previous experience in U.S. and European pharma and life science business development, as well as fundraising for U.S. and European life science investment firms. She was the driving force behind the establishment of the firm in the MENA region from 2007 onwards and co-founded TVM Capital Healthcare in 2009. TVM Capital Healthcare, Dubai and Singapore, is a globally active specialist investment company, investing in healthcare companies that transform the way how healthcare is delivered to make healthcare better, more cost-effective, faster and more accessible. She currently holds a board position at Manzil Healthcare Services, a dedicated provider of professional home care and home nursing services headquartered in Abu Dhabi. She is the Group CEO of Bourn Hall International, a chain of fertility clinics in the UAE, the international arm of renowned Bourn Hall Clinic in the UK, who invented the IVF procedure.

Lars Erik Fredriksson

Chair, OECD Working Party on State-Ownership and Privatization Practices, Sweden. Mr. Lars Erik Fredriksson is an Investment Director at the Division for State-Owned Enterprises at the Ministry of Enterprise and Innovation in Sweden since 2004. He specializes in corporate governance of state owned enterprises (SOEs). He is also the chair of the OECD WPSOPP (Working Party for State Owned Enterprises and Privatization) since 2015 where he was vice-chair since 2014 and delegate since 2008. Lars Erik has extensive experience from SOE ownership including corporatisation, privatisation, starting new SOEs, setting up ownership policies, setting financial targets, board recruitment and board work. He is currently a non-executive director in four SOEs and chair of the board in one private company. He holds a B.Soc.Sc. degree from Uppsala University.

Hans Christiansen

Senior Economist, Corporate Affairs Division, OECD Mr. Hans Christiansen is a Senior Economist in the OECD Corporate Affairs Division. He joined the Division after previous postings in the OECD Investment Division, Financial Affairs Division and the Economics Directorate. Prior to joining OECD, he worked for the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) in Switzerland. Mr. Christiansen’s currently acts as the secretary to the OECD Working Party on State Ownership and Privatisation Practices, which is the custodian of the OECD Guidelines on Corporate Governance of SOEs. His current assignments includes OECD’s ongoing project on State-Owned Enterprises in the World Economy, responsibility for the OECD Network on Corporate Governance of Asian SOEs, as well as involvement in other SOE-related activities throughout the world. A Danish national, he holds a graduate degree in Political Economics from the University of Copenhagen.

Abdelaziz Samih

Mr Abdelaziz SAMIH is Head of the Studies and Information Systems Sub-Directorate in the Department of Public Enterprises and Privatization (DEPP) at the Ministry of Economy and Finance, Morocco, where he served for the last 34 years in different positions, initially as Financial Controller of State Owned Enterprises (SOEs) operating in different sectors of the Moroccan economy, and Head of a Financial Control Unit supervising the control activity over a group of SOEs in the sectors of tourism, trade and promotion. He also acted as Head of the Unit supervising the Contracting processes between the Government and SOEs and later as Head of the Division supervising Financial Control over SOEs in the Agriculture, Agri-business and Industry sectors. He served and continues to serve as a board member representing the State Government in several SOEs in different sectors. Mr SAMIH is married and father of 3 daughters. He graduated in Economics (focus in Econometrics) from the Mohamed V University in Rabat and holds two Master’s Degrees in Public Administration (University of Missouri, Columbia, USA) and Business Administration (Higher Institute of Trade and Business Administration (Institut Supérieur du Commerce et de l’Administration des Entreprises - ISCAE), Casablanca, Morocco). He is now completing a certifying cycle as a SOEs’ board member, syndicated by the International Rabat University (UIR) and the Moroccan Institute of Board Members (IMA). His main experience is in public finance and the areas of management, control and governance of SOEs.

Dr. Hanjun Park

Dr. Hanjun Park is the Head of SOE Evaluation Research Team at Korea Institute of Public Finance (KIPF) and currently serving as a member of the Committee for Management of Seoul Metropolitan Public Institutions. Prior to joining KIPF, He lectured extensively on public management at major universities in Korea. His academic and policy interests cover public sector reform, strategic management, personnel management and performance evaluation. He has performed many research and consultation projects for various state-owned enterprises, central government offices and metropolitan councils in Korea. Dr. Park is a regular speaker at events on public management and policy conferences both in Korea and aboard including the American Society for Public Administration Annual Conference. He has also published articles in international journals including Public Management Review. He holds a PhD in Public affairs from Indiana University, Bloomington.

Shri Rajiv Rai

Shri Rajiv Rai, posted to the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) as Secretary on 24.5.2013, is an officer of the Central Secretariat Service of Civil Services Examination of 1983 batch. Educational Qualification: A graduate and post-graduate from Hindu College, University of Delhi, he acquired the LLB degree in 2010 and subsequently LLM in 2014. Professional Experience: During his tenure in the Union Ministry of Urban Development from 1986 to 2001, Shri Rai was associated with drafting of the National Housing Policy, National Commission of Urbanisation and worked as Additional Private Secretary to two Union Ministers of Urban Development. On promotion as Deputy Secretary in 1997 got posted to the Directorate of Estates and dealt with allotments and policy of government accommodations, and computerization. Shri Rai served in the Vigilance wing in the Ministry of Finance, Department of Revenue in the Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC). On promotion as Director w.e.f. July 2003 in the Deptt. of Personnel & Training, worked in areas of Vigilance, Cadre review of Central Services, Administration and as Secretary, Central Civil Services Cultural & Sports Board, as well as Secretary, Grih Kalyan Kendra.

Said Kambi

Said Baraka Kambi is the founding CEO of the Institute of Directors in Tanzania (loDT) and the current Chairman of the African Corporate Governance Network (ACGN). Based in Johannesburg, the ACGN is a growing network of 19 national director training institutes from Africa. Prior to December, 2105, Mr. Kambi had served in the capacity of the vice-chair since the network’s inception in October 2013. He is a certified trainer with the Global Corporate Governance Forum (GCGF) / IFC. Mr. Kambi has established himself as a speaker in the corporate governance circuit — both on personal capacity as well as representing both the IoDT and the ACGN. He is a resource person and corporate governance consultant in local programmes and abroad, being a guest facilitator with the Institute of Directors of Kenya. Mr. Kambi is an ex-banker having worked with a number of renowned local and international banks locally and abroad, including Citi. He received his MBA (Finance) from the University of Dar es salaam in - 1998. Apart from chairing the ACGN executive committee, he serves on boards of public enterprises and private sector companies.

Shepherd Chimutanda

Shepherd is a Zimbabwean national with over 17years of experience in corporate finance, corporate recovery/restructuring (insolvency), audit and assurance, internal audit, accounting, re-organisation, business continuity management, forensic audits, management consulting, tax advising, strategic business planning, ICT reviews and ascertainability assessment, revenue assurance, ICT forensics. He has been an invaluable asset of the firm, STC International, since 2006, where he is currently the Managing Partner. He has loads of experience in public practice, private and public sector. He worked for a mid tier chartered accounting firm for five years and for insurance giant Old Mutual as Finance Manager, Business Continuity Manager and Internal Audit Manager for eight years. He has held a number of corporate recovery and insolvency positions in Zimbabwe. He has also structured quite a number of local and international investment deals and transactions on mergers and acquisitions. Shepherd is a past member of the Education Committee of the Public Accountants and Auditors Board (PAAB) of Zimbabwe, Treasurer PAC Gateway Primary School. Recently Shepherd was appointed to the board of Network Executive Panel of ACCA. He is also the Immediate Past President (IPP) of Capital Club Toastmaster International. Shepherd is a fellow of ACCA and holds a BSc. Honors in Applied Accounting (Oxford Brookes University, UK). Shepherd has a passion for public speaking and is an avid golfer.

Shahzad Khan

Shahzad is Head of Ethics & Compliance for the Mubadala Group He is a Barrister (Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn) and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England & Wales, as well as a Certified Compliance Officer and a contributor to several international and regional governance symposiums. Additionally, he is a member of the Conference Board’s Council of Governance. Prior to joining Mubadala, Shahzad worked at the London office of Allen & Overy and for the Executive Office of the U.N. Secretary General in New York, having read Jurisprudence at the University of Oxford.

Jalil Tarif

Jalil Tarif currently serves as the Secretary General of the Union of Arab Securities Authorities (UASA). Tarif started his career in the Central Bank of Jordan and held the positions of Executive Director and Deputy Director General in Amman Financial Market between 1992 and 1999, where he oversaw Jordan’s entire capital market. Through his role as Deputy Director General, Tarif assisted in writing the securities law that implemented the three separate entities that make up Jordan’s Capital Market today. In 1999, Jalil Tarif was appointed as the first Chief Executive Officer of <a title="Amman Stock Exchange" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amman_Stock_Exchange">Amman Stock Exchange</a>. He left his position as CEO in December 2012 to become the Secretary General of the Union of Arab Securities Authorities located in Dubai. Some of the roles Tarif has held during his career include: President, NSC-Unix user group, Atos-Euro Next Market Solutions; Chairman of <a title="IOSCO" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IOSCO">IOSCO</a> Self-Regulatory Organization Consultative Committee; Member, <a title="OECD" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OECD">OECD</a> Corporate Governance Working Group, MENA region. In addition, he participated in meetings with the <a title="IMF" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IMF">IMF</a>, <a title="IBRD" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IBRD">IBRD</a>, <a title="IOSCO" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IOSCO">IOSCO</a>, <a title="WFE" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WFE">WFE</a>, <a title="FEAS" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FEAS">FEAS</a>, COMCEC and <a title="UNCTAD" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UNCTAD">UNCTAD</a>.

Fianna Jurdant

Mrs. Fianna Jurdant is a Programme and Team Leader in the OECD. She advocates sound corporate governance policies and practices globally. She manages programmes to enhance cooperation with China, India and Indonesia and develops regional initiatives in Asia as well as recently the Middle East and North Africa, notably the MENA-OECD Working Group on Corporate Governance. Ms. Jurdant also stears OECD’s work on diversity in corporate leadership and the role of the board in climate change. Since 1997, Ms. Jurdant provides policy advice and builds partnerships with governments, business groups, civil society and international bodies, helping to shape policy reform agendas and supporting effective implementation. She leads a multicultural team in the analysis and conceptual thinking to develop policy options for improved standards and practices. Her work focuses on : the Role of Stock Exchanges, Public Enforcement and Corporate Governance, Transparency of Backdoor Listings, Board Nomination and Election, Diversity, Board Evaluations and Performance, Related Party Transactions, Disclosure of Beneficial Ownership and Control, amongst others.

H.E Sergio Ivan Alfaro Salas

Attended the Escuela Libre de Derecho at the Autonomous University of Central América (UACA) from 1990 to 1996. In 1996 he obtained a final degree in Law with “Cum Laude Probatus” honours and became a Notary Public. He was granted the “Mutis” scholarship through the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) from 1997 to 2001, being a doctoral candidate in Political Science and Administration at Salamanca University (Spain). Sergio has been Professor of Political Science at the University of Costa Rica and Professor of Law at the Escuela Libre de Derecho, as well as Academic researcher at the Institute for Iberoamerican and Portuguese Studies of the University of Salamanca. In 1997 he served as legal assistant for the Attorney General and from 2001 to 2007 he worked as an independent practitioner. Between 2010 and 2014 he was an attorney and notary public for Central American law firm Arias & Muñoz (currently Dentons-Muñoz). He served as a member of the Costa Rican Parliament from 2007 to 2010 and from May 2014 to April 2015 he was appointed Executive President (CEO) of the National Institute of Insurance (INS), a State Owned Enterprise and the biggest insurance company of Central America. Since May 2015, Sergio is the Minister of the Presidency for the Solís Rivera administration.

Edgar Nyoni

Mr Edgar Nyoni is the Executive Director of the State Enterprises Restructuring Agency (SERA) which is under the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development and is in charge of Public Enterprises Reforms in Zimbabwe. Edgar holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Masters Degree in Economics. He also holds a Diploma in Business Leadership and various professional qualifications in Corporate Governance, Privatisation, Corporate Finance, Valuation and Public Private Partnership (PPPs) from various international organizations. He has over 20 years post qualification experience in restructuring, privatization, mergers, recapitalization, valuation and financial due diligence transactions and currently is a member of a team working on the Public Enterprise Corporate Governance Bill for SEPs in Zimbabwe.

Renaud Van Goethem

<span lang="EN-GB" style="font-size: 9pt; line-height: 107%; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; background-image: initial; background-position: initial; background-size: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial;">Renaud Van Goethem holds a bachelor degree in Political Science and a master degree in Public Administration from the Catholic University of Louvain (Belgium) as well as certificates from Tallinn University of Technology (Estonia) and Galatasaray University (Turkey). In 2012, he started to work for GUBERNA (The Belgian Governance and Directors’ Institute) as a researcher. He led and developed the Centre for Public Governance. He was involved in several research projects on public governance and governance services for SOEs, such as board evaluations and remuneration benchmarks. His main research focussed on the State as a shareholder and on remuneration practices within public organisations. Additionally, he gave governance classes to directors and top-managers in Belgium. He has been living in Sweden since 2017 and has been working i.a. as an External Advisor for GUBERNA.

Fatima Barnoussi

Ziad Hayek

Ziad Hayek is the Secretary General of the Republic of Lebanon High Council for Privatization. He is a leading authority in the field of Public-Private Partnership, having been involved in PPP projects since 1988. Mr. Hayek is also a Member of the Board of Trustees of USEK University, Member of the Board of Directors of CAT International, Chairman of The Alephbet Foundation, Member of the Investment Committee of YMCA International and member of United Nations Steering Group on PPPs. Previously, Mr. Hayek was CEO of Lonbridge Associates; Senior Managing Director of Bear Stearns; Managing Director of Indosuez Capital Latin America; President of Indosuez Mexico; Vice President of Salomon Brothers; and Vice President of Citibank, where he headed the bank’s International Securitization Department. Mr. Hayek has an MA in International Management from the University of Texas at Dallas and has studied business administration at ITESM in Mexico. He is familiar with 11 languages.

H.E. Dr. Khaled Mahdi

Government and Public Sector Experience, Khaled is currently serving as the Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Planning and Development in the Government of Kuwait since 2016. He was the Assistant Secretary General for the Follow-up and Future Forecasting besides being the Acting Assistant Secretary General for planning. Khaled resided in several government boards and higher committees to name few: the Public Authority for Industries, Kuwait Institute for Scientific Researches, Public Authority for Civil Information and The Arab Planning Institutes. He is a member of the Supreme Council of Education. He serves as a member in high-level committees such as the Economic and Fiscal Reform, Humanitarian Foreign Aid, Fiscal budgeting Frame, Kuwait Demographic Disparities, The development of Kuwait Islands, Kuwait Master Plan 204 besides serving other government sub committees and leading government teams. Khaled is the chairman of the Consultants Selection Committee. Academic Experience, Khaled received his PhD in chemical engineering from Northwestern University specialized on applications of statistical mechanics on complex thermodynamic systems. He received his bachelor degree in chemical engineering from University of Toronto. Khaled worked for Kuwait Institute for Scientific Researches before he became an Associate Professor of Chemical Engineering at Kuwait University. He taught 29 different courses in general engineering, chemical engineering as well as management sciences. He received the best teaching award in Kuwait University (2009) and electronic courses award in 2006. Khaled has authored or co-authored more than 65 journals articles, chapters, conference papers and books in different fields. His primary interest is the study of complex systems and process modeling and optimization from the applied side of engineering. Khaled together with collaborators established two research groups: SYNERGY the first research group to study complex networks in the Middle East and ECSL@KU is an Engineering Computation and Simulation Laboratory at Kuwait University. Khaled has supervised several research projects funded, unfunded and master theses and projects. Private Sector Experience, Khaled resided in several known corporations in Kuwait representing a major investment companies such as Industrial and Financial Investments Companies as a member in Al-Dhow Environmental Projects Company, Arab Industrial Projects Company and Environmental Preservation Industrial Company. Currently he is Vice Chairman & CEO of FOCUS consultancy services, a shareholding management and engineering training and consulting firm in Kuwait, he founded the company in 2013. In 2004, he founded SGC a general trading and contracting company focused on industrial and commercial real-estate development outside Kuwait Consulting and Training Experience, Khaled serves as a consultant for Kuwait University Academic affairs offices on Kuwait University Strategy in 2005. Later he serves in the consulting team of her Excellency the Minister of Development Affair office in 2014. . Khaled participated in many consulting projects with several organizations such as UNCC, KNFP, KPC, EPIC, MOE, KIU, CMA and many others He trained more than 1000 professionals and engineers since 2002 in the public and private sectors locally and regionally as well as internationally. Training courses include technical, management and leadership training programs with emphasis on professional certifications in management. Professional Communities Involvement, Khaled is a project management professional (PMP), PRINCE2 and a certified consulting engineer (CEng) in research and training as well as a certified GCC expert and commercial arbitrator. He is a senior member of AIChE and associate member of IChemE besides membership is several professional societies, ISPI, SAVE, IAE, IADIS, KES, ACS and SPE. Khaled serves as a professional consultant and trainer in project management, leadership and chemical engineering counting more than 90 training courses.

Lawrence L. Lee

Lawrence L. Lee is Associate Professor of Law at National Taipei University of Business. In the meantime, Lawrence is Adjunct Associate Professor at Shih Hsin University School of Law. He has been Director of Department of Financial and Economic Law at Asia University between August 2007 and July 2008. Lawrence holds S.J.D. (equivalent to Ph.D. in Law) from Wisconsin University School of Law in 1999 and three law master degrees from Boston University School of Law in 1992, American University Washington Law School in 1996, and Wisconsin University School of Law in 1997 respectively. Lawrence is pursuing another doctoral degree from the Centre of Commercial Law Study, Queen Mary College at the University of London. Lawrence worked as a research fellow at Columbia University School of Law from 1998 to 2000 and was a visiting scholar at New York University School of Law from 2001 to 2004 and from 2007 to 2009. Lawrence is expertise in financial and banking regulation, securities law, corporate law, anti-trust law, Intellectual Property Rights, and Corporate Governance. Lawrence has published articles in English and Chinese versions in Taiwan, China, Hong Kong, the United States, and the United Kingdom. Moreover, Lawrence is an international editor of the Journal of Financial Crime (England). Lawrence was a commissioner of Taiwan Fair Trade Commission (similar to the Fair Trade Commission in the United States) from February 2010 to January 2013. In terms of the experience on corporate governance, Lawrence has been appointed as a director to Mega Financial Holding Company by the Ministry of Finance (Taiwan) on behalf of the stakeholders of the ROC government since October 2008 to September 2009 and selected as an independent director to Mega Insurance Company since October 2009 to 2010, and an independent Director to Asia Chemic Corporate, a listed company on Taiwan Stock Exchange, since March 2009 to 2010.

Sumaya Al Shaer

Sumaya Al Shaer, Acting Head of Strategy & Corporate Governance at Dubai South, is responsible for managing the development of the Dubai South strategy and performance framework. She is in charge of promoting a culture of excellence and overseeing all major organizational development and governance activities in the company. She is also holding the position of Director – Organization Development. Previous to these roles, she was the Head of Business Development in Abu Dhabi Department of Transport, where she was responsible for managing the organizational performance, business processes, excellence program, and several corporate governance activities. Dr Elsharkawy was a board member and financial advisor for many large industrial and investment corporations, he also served as a member in the Board of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE), head of the audit committee of CBE, Member of the Monetary Policy Committee, member of the Board of trustees of the Egyptian Money Laundering Combating Unit, chairman of the board of the Egyptian Financial Services Institute, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Egyptian Institute of Directors, and the Egyptian Corporate Social Responsibility Center. He is the founder and the first Executive Chairman of the Egyptian Audit Oversight Board. Dr. Elsharkawy has a very wide and extensive knowledge of all financial regulations in Egypt and the international best practices, and Advanced knowledge of IFRS, ISA, IOSCO principles, and IAIS principles. He had prepared and supervised all nonbanking financial regulations in Egypt for the last 6 years. he also shared in IOSCO task force or bond market activation in Emerging Markets. Dato’ Abdul Aziz Abu Bakar

Aziz is currently an Executive Director with MINDA where he recently retired after being their CEO since 2009. He is also currently an Independent Non-Executive Director of ALKHAIR International Islamic Bank Malaysia Bhd., Independent Non-Executive Director of Merchant Trade Asia Bhd, a Council Member of the Malaysian Employers Federation (MEF). He was previously on the Boards of INTRIA Berhad as Managing Director, Costain Group Plc (UK), Rangkaian Segar Sdn Berhad and FCW Holdings Berhad. He was appointed as the first CEO / Executive Director of MINDA in October 2009. Prior to joining Shell Malaysia, he was a Fleet Planning Coordinator with Malaysia Airlines System (MAS) where he began his career in 1977. He holds a Bachelor of Economics (Honours) degree from the University of Malaya. Attended the Harvard Business School - Senior Management Development Programme (SMDP) in August 2000 and Financial Institutions Directors Education (FIDE) Programme in July 2011. In 2007, he was awarded the National HR Leader Award by the Ministry of Human Resources jointly with Malaysian Institute of HR Management.

Fabio Scacciavillani

Fabio Scacciavillani, a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Chicago, is the Chief Economist and member of the Investment Committee of the Oman Investment Fund, a Sovereign Wealth Fund that invests and manages assets for the benefit of future generations. In this role, he develops economic forecasts, conducts analyses on global trends, evaluates asset class returns, and contributes to strategic decision-making. He is one of the world’s leading experts on Sovereign Wealth Funds, their influence on financial markets, and their investment strategies. In his distinguished career he served as Director of Macroeconomics and Statistics at the Dubai International Financial Centre, Executive Director at Goldman Sachs, Senior Economist and Adviser at the European Central Bank and worked in several departments of the International Monetary Fund. Dr. Antonius Alijoyo

Jerawat Hongsakul

Mr. Jerawat Hongsakul is the Director of Portfolio Management Bureau at State Enterprise Policy Office (SEPO) and Ministry of Finance in Thailand. Mr. Jerawat Hongsakul holds two Masters Degrees, Business Administration from Eastern Michigan University, USA and Master of Arts (Business Economics) from Thammasat University, Thailand. His responsibilities include: - Asset management of state entities holding less than fifty percent of the total capital. - The proposed policies, plans, laws, regulations and administrative measures and development of state owned enterprise board of directors. - Nomination of Directors’ Pool.

Henda Esandju Inglês

Mr. Henda Esandju Inglês has been the CEO of the angolan Institute for Public Sector Enterprises (ISEP) , since April 2010. He holds an honours degree in Economics from the University of Cape Town, South Africa and has held senior positions at a local comercial bank, the Ministries of Economy, Economic Coordination and at the State Secretary for Public Sector Enterprises. He has been galvanizing new approaches in relation to the form the angolan SOE´s are controled, monitored, managed and directed. He found the anual Business Forum for State Owned Enterprises – a platform to stimulate business among SOE´s and improve its management culture –, introduced a public event/session for the approval of the Financial Statements of all State Owned Enterprises (excluding corporations constituted under the local company law), introduced a leadership tranning programme for top management and director and proposed new legislation and regulation for the SOE sector. He resides in Luanda with his wife and 3 kids.

Jane Valls

Jane Valls joined the GCC Board Directors Institute, based in Dubai, in January 2016 as Executive Director. GCC BDI is a not for profit company founded in 2007 with the Mission to improve corporate governance and professional directorship in the GCC. The founding fathers – Saudi Aramco, SABIC, Investcorp, Emirates NBD, McKinsey, PwC, Heidrick & Struggles and Allen & Overy, continue to support GCC BDI today and form the Board of Governors. Jane has over 15 years of international experience in corporate governance and working with board of directors. She is an accredited Corporate Governance trainer with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), part of the World Bank Group, and is an accredited trainer with the Ethics Institute, as well as being a Certified Ethics Officer. From 2010 to2015, Jane was the CEO of the Mauritius Institute of Directors (MIOD), one of the leading Institutes in Africa. She was the first Chairperson of the African Corporate Governance Network from 2013-2015, a network which she helped to found, bringing together 17 Institutes of Directors from across the African continent. Before joining the MIOD, Jane has held senior positions and directorships in a wide range of business sectors with leading companies including British Airways, Air Mauritius, Sun International and The Rogers Group, amongst others, as well as running her own management and training consultancy. Jane holds a BA Hons in French and Italian from Birmingham University, UK. She was awarded an Honorary Doctorate Degree by the University of Middlesex for services to business, women's empowermen and social justice and she was decorated by the Republic of Mauritius as a Commander of the Order of the Star and the Key of the Indian Ocean (CSK) for services to corporate governance.

Dr. Stephen Davis

Stephen Davis, Ph.D. is a Senior Fellow of the Harvard Law School and Associate Director of its Program on Corporate Governance. He has also been a nonresident senior fellow at the Brookings Institution and was executive director of Yale School of Management’s Millstein Center for Corporate Governance. Davis served on the US SEC’s Investor Advisory Committee. He is a member of the Advisory Board of New America’s Bretton Woods II, trustee of ShareAction, member of the Hawkamah Journal editorial board, and advisor on governance to Alfaisal University College of Business. For nine years he was chair and a board member of Hermes EOS. Davis was also co-director of the Brookings’ World Forum on Governance. Winner of the 2011 ICGN Award, Davis is co-author of What They Do With Your Money (Yale University Press, 2016) and The New Capitalists (Harvard Business School Press, 2006). His Shareholder Rights Abroad (1989) pioneered study of comparative corporate governance. Davis is a co-founder of the ICGN and co-author of the UN Principles for Responsible Investment. Davis has a Ph.D. from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University, and undergraduate degrees at Tufts and the London School of Economics.

Michael Webb

Michael is a leading commercial barrister and board director in New Zealand, with a wide-ranging practice in corporate, banking, financial market, governmental, insolvency, and regulatory law. Michael commenced practice at the Bar as an independent barrister in 1995. Before that for many years he was a partner in a major New Zealand law firm. He also has extensive governance experience as a director of significant companies and public sector entities in New Zealand and Australia, including as chairman and a director of crown-owned companies. He has also been involved as adviser in relation to corporatisation and privatisation undertakings of the New Zealand Government and New Zealand’s state-owned enterprises and crown entities legislation. In addition to his legal practice, Michael is currently a director of Crown Irrigation Investments Limited (a company owned by the New Zealand Government providing project finance for the construction and development of irrigation infrastructure) and a non-executive Adviser to the Board of Deloitte New Zealand. From 2011 to 2016, Michael was also a foundation Board Member of the Financial Markets Authority, New Zealand, the new financial markets regulator and from 2005-2009 was Managing Director, Financial Sector Development and Policy, Qatar Financial Centre Regulatory Authority, where his focus was the development and implementation of the legal, regulatory and international court regimes of the Qatar Financial Centre. Michael is a frequent speaker at conferences in New Zealand and internationally on financial markets, corporate governance, banking, insolvency, and regulation.

ZHU Kai

Mr. Zhu Kai received his PhD in law from Law School Tsinghua university. He joined SASAC in 2003, and now is Director of Bureau of Policies, Laws and Regulations SASAC. Over the past 14 years, Mr. Zhu kai has been participated in drafting laws and regulations on state-owned assets supervision regime and SOE reforms, engaging in bilateral and multilateral negotiations and dialogues involving SOE issues, and addressing SOE-related issues in anti-dumping & countervailing, anti-monopoly, WTO trade policies reviews etc.

Kryzysztof Jaros

Krzysztof Jaros works with the MENA Corporate Governance Team in the scope of capacity building, regulatory level consultancy and the delivery of targeted client services across the region. Krzysztof is a German lawyer with a specialisation in international economic law including public/corporate governance, competition and State aid control. He has been working in the scope of democratic and economic transition in the broader context of the European Neighbourhood Policy for fifteen years. Krzysztof participated in many capacity building projects and advised government authorities in various MENA and EU neighbouring countries on legal issues related to corporate governance, competition policy and State aid control. Prior to joining IFC in early 2016, Krzysztof was based for seven years in Rabat, Morocco, where he had been the Resident Advisor to two EU funded institution building projects. In his assignment at the Ministry of Economics and Finance (2011 – 2013) he focused on improving regulatory framework conditions for the implementation of the Good Governance Code for SOEs and provided strategic advice to the Moroccan Government wishing to align on international best practices. This included supporting a number of pilot undertakings that had committed themselves to improve their corporate governance.

Tran Tho Hai

Tran Tho Hai, Head, General Policy Division, Corporate Finance Department, Ministry of Finance, Viet Nam Tran Tho Hai is a Vietnam senior policy maker. He was born and raised in Hanoi and graduated from National Economic University, with master degree. After graduation, he worked for SOEs including: Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) and Vietnam Food Corporation (VINAFOOD). Since 2004, he have been working in Ministry of Finance of Vietnam (MOF). At present, he works as a role of Head of General Policy Division – Corporate Finance Department. During working process, he has obtained deep experience in SOE equitization process.

Dr U.D. Choubey

Dr. U.D. Choubey, former Chairman & Managing Director of GAIL (India) Limited (a State-Owned Maharatna Enterprise) is presently Director General of Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE) - An Apex Body of Public Sector Enterprises (State Owned Enterprises) in India. With double Ph.D., MBA & LL.B., Dr. Choubey has more than forty years of rich experience in management, energy, oil & gas and economic issues dealt in State-Owned Enterprises. Dr. Choubey has authored three books : one entitled “Text Book on Natural Gas” the second entitled “Untold Story of the Indian Public Sector” and “The Last Inning And Beyond”.. Dr. Choubey is actively associated with the OECD, particularly Asia Network and reforms in Corporate Governance of SOEs.

H.E. Essa Kazim

H.E. Essa Kazim is the Governor of Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), Chairman of Borse Dubai, Chairman of Dubai Financial Market (DFM), Deputy Chairman of Supreme Legislation Committee in Dubai and a member in Dubai Supreme Fiscal Committee. H.E. Kazim began his career as a Senior Analyst in the Research and Statistics Department of the UAE Central Bank in 1988 and then moved to the Dubai Department of Economic Development as Director of Planning and Development in 1993. He was then appointed as Director General of the DFM from 1999 to 2006. H.E. Kazim holds an honorary Doctorate from Coe College, a Masters degree in Economics from the University of Iowa, a Masters Degree in Total Quality Management from the University of Wollongong and A Bachelor degree from Coe College. H.E. Kazim currently sits on a number of official advisory committees and boards; he is Member of the Higher Board of Directors of the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), Chairman of DIFC Authority Board of Directors, Chairman of DIFC Investments Board of Directors, Board Member of Dubai Economic Council, Board Member of NASDAQ Dubai, Board Member of Noor Bank, Board Member of NASDAQ OMX, Member of the Board of Etisalat, and Member of the Board and Secretary General of Dubai Islamic Economy Development Center. H.E. Essa Kazim also serves as a board member for a number of educational institutions, both in the region and around the world.

H.E. Hamad Buamim

Hamad Buamim has been the President & CEO of Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry since November 2006. He also serves as the Chair of the World Chambers Federation - ICC in Paris. Educated in the USA, Buamim graduated with Honors (Magna Cum Laude) from the University of Southern California - Los Angeles in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. In 2002, he obtained an MBA with Honors in Finance from the University of Missouri - Kansas City. Buamim is a Member of the Board of Directors of the UAE Central Bank, Managing Director and Board Member of Dubai World, Chairman of National General Insurance and Board Member of Union Properties. Previously, Buamim served as Chairman of Emirates Financial Services, Chairman of Emirates NBD Capital and Board Member of Emirates NBD Bank and Network International.

Dr Fawaz Al Alamy

Dr Fawaz Al Alamy currently holds chairmanship positions with the Global Trade Consulting House and Northern Trust Company (KSA). He currently sits on the boards of Al Fatah Water Security Company; The Industrial Group; Al Bakri Holding Group; and Mubarad Public Company. He is a board member and secretary general of Al Bayan Foundation. He was the Deputy Minister of Commerce & Industry, and was the Kingdom’s WTO Chief Technical Trade Negotiator. He was a member of the board of the privatization committee of the Supreme Economic Council, Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority, Saudi Industrial Development Fund, and Saudi Arabian Airlines. He is also an academic and is currently a Visiting Professor at London City University and was formerly associated with King Abdulaziz University. He has his PhD in Energy Physics from the UK.

Dr. Ashraf Gamal

Dr. Ashraf Gamal El Din is the Chief Executive Officer of Hawkamah, the Institute for Corporate Governance, the DIFC. Prior to joining Hawkamah, Dr. Ashraf was the Executive Chairman of Egypt Post. Before that, he was the Deputy Executive Director of the Egyptian Banking Institute, the training arm of the Central Bank of Egypt. He was also the founder and Project Manager of the Egyptian Corporate Responsibility Center working on promoting the concepts and application of CSR in Egypt. Furthermore, he was the Executive Director of the Egyptian Institute of Directors (EIoD), the Institute of Corporate Governance in Egypt and the Arab Region Dr. Ashraf served as a board member and head of the Audit Committee in a number of listed, non-listed, State Owned and family owned companies. He also served a member of the General Assembly of the Holding Company for Transportation. Furthermore, Dr. Ashraf is an Associate Professor of Management, Faculty of Commerce, Cairo University and holds a Ph.D. degree from Manchester University, UK, and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Carleton University, Canada. He further holds a Bachelor degree in Business Administration from Cairo University with highest honor. Dr. Ashraf worked as head of Business Administration Department at Nile University for Graduate Studied, affiliated with the Ministry of Communication & Information Technology. Since 1997, he taught a large number of management and business courses in Egypt, the US, and the Gulf Area.

Ahmed Al Ansari

<h6>Ahmed Al Ansari, Acting Chief Executive Officer at Dubai South, leads the formulation, approval and implementation of the overall strategy and long term business plan for Dubai South. He is responsible for the urban development of the 145 sq. km. city and the evolution and success of its free zones. Al Ansari is also entrusted with the execution of strategic government initiatives and the establishment of subsidiaries within Dubai South. </h6> <h4 align="LEFT">Some of his key responsibilities at Dubai South include driving revenue growth and optimizing asset utilization, ensuring effective management of the talent pipeline and providing overall direction for the development and implementation of strategic and operational policies and procedures to ensure that the organisation’s activities are fully integrated and delivered to global industry standards.</h4> <h4>Prior to his appointment as Acting CEO, Al Ansari was the Deputy COO at Dubai South, responsible for the oversight of planning and zoning, business development, cost and margin control, and financial goals management related to the 145 sq. km. urban development.</h4> <h4>Previous to this role, he was Vice President of Internal Audit and Risk Assessment Group at Dubai Aviation City Corporation (DACC), where he was responsible for tasks related to risk assessment and audit as well as for raising awareness on corporate governance initiatives.</h4> <h4>Before joining DACC, Al Ansari was Vice President of the Investment and Acquisitions Unit (logistics, aviation and industry) at Dubai Investment Group, Dubai Holding. Frank Dangeard

Frank Dangeard serves on the boards of Symantec (USA), Royal Bank of Scotland (UK), RPX (USA) and is Chairman of NatWest Markets (RBS’s investment bank). He is a “board observer” of Arqiva (UK) and a non-voting board member or advisory board member of various listed and non-listed companies, principally in the telecom/technology, finance and energy sectors. He is the founder of Harcourt IGN in Dubai, an advisory firm which provides senior-level services in strategy, board and strategy processes, and family and group governance to companies and families in the Gulf Area, South-East Asia and Europe. He is a “Director-in-Residence” at INSEAD, and is also Chairman of the International Advisory Council of Hawkamah, the corporate governance institute of the MENA region, based in Dubai. Frank Dangeard has served on the boards of Crédit Agricole-CIB (France); EDF (Electricité de France); Orange, Equant and Wanadoo (France Télécom/Orange Group); Eutelsat (France); Hindustan Power (India); Home Credit (Czech Republic); SonaeCom (Portugal). He has been Chairman of Atari (France /US), Deputy Chairman and Acting Chairman of Telenor (Norway), and has chaired the Strategy Board of PwC (France). He was on the International Advisory Board of the Harvard Business School (US) from 2000 to 2017, and on the Advisory Board of Ecole des Hautes Etudes Commerciales (France) from 2005 to 2017. From September 2004 to February 2008, he was Chairman & CEO of Thomson, a world leader in video technologies and services. From September 2002 to September 2004, he was Deputy CEO of France Telecom, an international telecom operator. He joined Thomson multimedia in 1997 as Deputy CEO, and was appointed Vice Chairman in 2000. Prior to joining Thomson multimedia, from 1988 to 1997, Frank Dangeard was a Managing Director of the investment bank SG Warburg & Co. Ltd., in London and Madrid, then Chairman of SG Warburg France. From 1986 to 1988, he was with Sullivan & Cromwell LLP, a US law firm, in New York and London. Frank Dangeard, who is a French national, was born in Canada on February 25, 1958. He graduated from the École des Hautes Etudes Commerciales (Prix Jouy-Entreprise), the Paris Institut d’Études Politiques (Laureat) and from the Harvard Law School (Fulbright Scholar, HLS Fellow). He and his wife live in London and have one daughter. He is Chevalier de l’Ordre National du Mérite and Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur. His most recent book, “La décision de crise dans l’entreprise – 12 histoires de gouvernance”, was published in February 2011 by Editions Odile Jacob, Paris.

Mohamed Hassouna

Mohamed Hassouna has 25 years of practical experience in various aspects of public sector reform restructuring and corporate finance, liaison with developmental organizations, corporate governance, privatization and relations with investment banks and international organizations). He is currently the Advisor to the Minister for Public Enterprises and director of technical office in the Ministry, focusing on the government Asset Management Program including corporate governance of public enterprises. He sits in a number of restructuring, corporate finance and investment-related committees since 1992 to date, aiming at reengineering public enterprises and creating opportunities for partnerships with private sector. He sits on the board of Zahraa al Maadi for Housing, Eltaamir for Mortgage Finance and Al Oula for Real estate Development. He is also a member of the committee charged with updating the corporate governance code for state-owned enterprises in Egypt. Prior to joining the government, he was previously a senior financial consultant at Arthur Andersen Shawki.

Simon C.Y. Wong

Simon C.Y. Wong is an independent adviser on governance, institutional investment, and capital markets. He is also an Adjunct Professor of Law at Northwestern University, Visiting Fellow at the London School of Economics and Political Science, and External Senior Advisor at McKinsey & Company. Previously, Simon was a partner at activist investment firm Governance for Owners, Head of Corporate Governance at Barclays Global Investors, and a management consultant at McKinsey. Simon started his professional career as a securities lawyer with Linklaters & Paines and Shearman & Sterling, and also served as Principal Administrator/Counsel at the OECD. Simon has contributed actively to policymaking and testified before the UK House of Commons in 2013 on The Kay Review of UK Equity Markets and Long-Term Decision Making. His writings have appeared in the McKinsey Quarterly, Financial Times, Harvard Business Review Online, New York Times, and other publications. In 2013, he contributed three essays to the Harvard Business Review volume on How CEOs Can Fix Capitalism.
